“Your Child Has Cancer.”
It is difficult for many to comprehend even having to hear those words. But now, we all can relate a little more closely to a “day in the life” of this plight. Anxiety, loss of control, the fear that every germ might pose a serious medical threat. Add on the burden of financial instability and lost wages. THESE ARE THEIR SHOES of families facing pediatric cancer since the day that diagnosis came.
In 2021, we asked our community to “Walk a Mile” in the shoes of families facing pediatric cancer in WNY to raise money for our “Helping Hands” program, which meets the most critical needs of WNY families whose children are fighting cancer – through providing assistance with direct payment of essential household expenses: rents, mortgages, auto loans, utility and medical bills, gas and groceries and more. To kick off this year’s initiative, we are adding the “Roll” to our “Walk” leading into pediatric cancer awareness month.
Participating families who walk and/or roll a “Mile in Their Shoes” will be given a coupon for a FREE Slush at Sonic!
We Know THAT taking care of your own family in these trying times is difficult, but would you be willing to WALK A MILE for WNY FAMILIES FACING PEDIATRIC CANCER?
To participate, you can choose to:

P.U.N.T.’s “Helping Hands” program meets the most critical needs of WNY families whose children are fighting through providing assistance with direct payment of essential household expenses: rents, mortgages, auto loans, gas and groceries. Our hospital social work partners submit requests to us weekly on behalf of the highest need families and with community support, we are there to help.

WHO: Calling all difference-makers across WNY to help families in our own community who are facing pediatric cancer! Grab the kids! Grab the dog! Grab your BFF! We can’t wait to see and share the faces of those who “Walk the Walk” and challenge others to do the same.
WHAT: There is NO minimum raise though we do ask participants to kindly make a donation in any amount and challenge others to do the same. All proceeds will go to our “Helping Hands” program’s COVID relief fund which will be used over the next year to alleviate the catastrophic financial burdens for WNY families who have a child battling cancer.
WHERE: Families can choose whatever mile path they want to travel!
WHEN: Complete P.U.N.T. ‘s “Mile in Their Shoes” Family Walk by September 19th to be entered to win our top prizes!
